After SEO is performed, how long should it take for my new web site to start ranking well?

People often ask me, “After SEO services are performed, how long does it take before my new web site will start ranking well?”

The answer is, “That depends.” SEO efforts for a new web site can be seen fairly quickly, but you usually shouldn’t expect much from Google in the first 60 to 90 days. It greatly depends on a number of factors. The more competitive the search phrase, the harder it is to get it ranked. That is not saying that it can’t get ranked well, it’s just not as easy as some of the less competitive keyword phrases.

If you are a local business and only want to get ranked at a local level, it is usually not terribly difficult to get on the first page no matter how much competition there is in the area. In other words, getting ranked for “web design” is much more difficult than getting ranked for “web design Birmingham, AL”.

Remember, there are no guarantees and if any SEO company makes any guarantees, be very wary of their work. They may use tactics that are not considered “best practices” and so you may see short spike in the rankings. For great rankings, you can’t beat great content in conjunction with a great social media campaign.

If you have any questions or want some feedback on your current web site, please don’t hesitate to email or call.
